Taptap are colorful braided mats made from strips of old clothing and textiles, handmade by TAPPCO in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The mats are inspired by the works of the Shakers following their principles of simplicity, utility and honesty. The artisans were free to choose their colorways. Taptap have been first shown in hettler.tüllmann´s exhibition Alchemy of Re.Use at the Shaker Museum, Kinderhook, NY.
